ILSSA / Interdisciplinary Lab for Social Space and Art
Learn MoreThe Interdisciplinary Lab for Social Space and Art was established by the colleagues who cooperate across the disciplines and faculties at the University of Opole on the edge of visual arts, participatory arts and sociological and cultural realms.
It is a platform for both collaborative work in art and/or sociology as well as arts based research and the sociological inquiry of art. We are preoccupied by the idea of space, defined broadly as a socially constructed, contested, politically claimed, culturally negotiated and artistically approached. Space is social, space is the in betweenness, it is about relationships, it is where the identities are displayed and played out.
The members of the lab are scattered around the university departments, including the Faculty of Art, Department of Cultural Studies, Department of Sociology or Faculty of Political Sciences.
The lab is meant to serve as a platform for external collaboration, including international cooperation.
